Living here costs more every year.
Samuel is the Democratic candidate for State House District 99.
Traffic
The fix for I-526 has no money and no start date.
- 3
- times voters here have taxed themselves to pay for roads: $143 million in 2008, $273 million in 2014, $587 million in 2022.
- 54%
- more traffic on Clements Ferry Road from I-526 to Jack Primus Road since 2015.
My plan is another way to get there, by ferry, bus or rail.

Power bills
Last year the Senate voted to make data centers pay for the plants and lines they need, the House took it out, and this year’s bill never got a vote.
I’d make data centers pay for the plants and lines they need.

AI
The President ordered the Justice Department to take states to court over their AI laws, and the people writing ours would be guessing.
I build software, and I’d write the rules before somebody gets hurt.

Flock cameras log every car that passes. This summer an Upstate officer was fired for using them 166 times to track an ex.
Corruption
You paid for the roads, the builders did not, and Columbia made sure.
The county used to charge builders a road fee, but it repealed that in 2014 and has not charged one since. Our county is doing its fair share, but the companies building here are not. This spring there was a bill in Columbia to let a county make a subdivision wait for its road. Columbia let it die. They aren’t engineering a solution that will last.
I’ll read every bill before I vote on it, and I’ll say where the money went.
